Lost my marriage and found myself
Divorce was the hardest thing I've ever been through. Spent about a year just spiraling. But somewhere in that mess I stopped blaming her and started looking at my own stuff. Went to therapy, joined a group, actually started dealing with my anger issues instead of just white-knuckling through. I'm a better dad to my kids now even though I don't see them every day. I'm more present. I listen better. Do I miss what we had sometimes? Sure. But I don't miss who I was. The person I've become is worth what I lost to get here.
This takes guts to post. Divorce was rough for us too but the kids actually seem better now that the tension is gone. Glad you're on the other side of that year.
