Lost the Weight, Gained the Purpose
At 35 I was 280 pounds, pre-diabetic, couldn't play with my kids without getting winded. Did the whole transformation thing over two years, now I'm 185 and actually healthy. The crazy part is I don't even miss the old me that much. Yeah, I miss not counting calories and just eating whatever, and going to parties where I didn't feel self conscious. But now I can actually run around the backyard with my boys without feeling like I'm gonna die. My oldest asked me to play basketball with him the other day and I could actually do it. That's worth more than any pizza or beer ever was. The weight came back a little during pandemic lockdowns but I'm fighting to keep it off because now I know what it feels like to be the dad my kids need.
