Lost Weight, Gained Responsibility - How Fatherhood Changed My Health Journey
Before I had kids I was fit but it was all vanity. Beach bod for dating, gym as social thing. Then my daughter was born and suddenly I wasn't thinking about how I looked. I was thinking about living long enough to walk her down the aisle, being able to keep up with my boys without getting winded, being alive for my grandkids maybe. The weird thing is that mindset shift actually helped me stay consistent. I still hit the gym but now it's not about abs, it's about being healthy for them. I actually gained 15 pounds of muscle while losing 30 pounds of fat because I stopped obsessing over scale numbers. My wife says I look better now than when we met but more importantly I feel better. The identity thing hit different too. I'm not the vain gym rat anymore, I'm the dad who can wrestle three kids without dying. Respect hits different than aesthetic validation ever did.
