Moved My Family From Suburbs to a Farm
Sold our house in the suburbs last year and bought 10 acres about an hour out of the city. Built a chicken coop, planted a massive garden, kids go to a smaller school now. It's exhausting in ways I never imagined. The commute to work is brutal on days I have to go in. Property taxes, well maintenance, equipment breaks. But watching my 8 year old collect eggs every morning and actually understand where food comes from? My kids are different. Less screen time, more responsibility, more real. Some neighbors think we're crazy. I miss having restaurants on every corner. But I don't miss the rat race one bit.
This is incredible. How did you handle the transition with the kids? I've been fantasizing about something like this but my wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting to leave the city.
