Never thought I'd care this much about a someone else's future
Used to be pretty selfish about my money and time. Didn't really think about retirement or college funds or any of that stuff. Had a kid and suddenly I'm comparing 529 plans and life insurance like it's my job. It's weird how this small person completely changed what matters to me. My friends without kids still party and travel and I used to be jealous but now I'm actually way more stressed about whether I'm saving enough. Parenthood rewired my entire brain I think.
That selfishness shift is real. Used to spend money on whatever I wanted with no thought. Now I'm thinking about what happens to my kids if something happens to me. Being a dad changes your whole perspective on responsibility.
This is the real dad moment right here. From living in the moment to planning for the future. That 14 lb brisket you're smoking on Saturday will taste better knowing you're thinking about their futures too.
