Nobody tells you that becoming a dad changes your friendship dynamics
My crew from college all stayed pretty tight until we started having kids. Now I'm the only one with three and my buddies without kids just don't get why I can't do last minute weekend trips or why I need to leave early. Had a buddy tell me I was 'boring now' because I turned down a Vegas trip. That stung but also... yeah, I'm probably more boring now but I'm also present for my kids' lives which feels more important? Lost some friendships over it which sucks. Gained some really solid ones with other dads though who actually understand why I'm not drinking on a Tuesday anymore. Trade off feels worth it but I'd be lying if I said I don't miss just being able to be selfish.
