People always want to know how I did it or what changed my mind. Honestly my kid asked me why daddy was always tired and that broke something in me. I was a functional drunk, nothing crazy but I was checked out. Most people didnt even notice the shift except my family. My marriage is actually good now instead of just existing. My bank account looks different. The hard part is that a lot of my friend group disappeared and I had to figure out who I was sober. But I look in the mirror and like what I see now. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

This is inspiring. Being present for your kid is everything. I imagine the energy alone is different now, not to mention all the other stuff that comes with sobriety.

18 months is a serious accomplishment. That moment when your kid asked you is probably the one that made it real. How has your relationship with your kids changed since you quit?

That's a powerful moment. Kids notice everything and when they ask those hard questions it hits different. Respect for making that change for your family.
