Quit drinking and turned my whole life around

Three years sober now. I was that dad who had a few beers every night, thought it was normal. Lost a promotion because I showed up hungover one too many times. Almost lost my marriage. Went to AA and it was terrifying at first but god it saved me. Rebuilt trust with my wife, got that promotion I lost, have actual weekends with my family now instead of just sleeping them off. I miss the social aspect honestly, some of the guys at work still grab beers and I'm the sober one now. But I don't miss the shame.

This is incredible. I'm only a few weeks in as a dad and already feeling the pressure, so seeing someone actually change their life like this gives me hope that I can stay on the right path from the start.

Three years is huge, man. That takes serious strength and your kids are going to remember this version of you way more than the other stuff. Proud of you for turning it around.
