Quit My Corporate Job - Best and Worst Decision Ever
Worked in finance for 12 years. Made good money, had status, everyone knew my name at work. Also had stress that made my face break out, was drinking every night to unwind, and missed basically everything important. My kids knew my voicemail better than my voice. So I quit and took a job at a local outdoor company, way less pay, way more chill. Some days I really miss that paycheck and the respect that came with it. But I'm present. I coach my son's baseball team now instead of missing games. I actually know what my kids did at school. The house is messier because we're actually using it instead of it being a place we sleep. I don't regret it but man, adulting without that financial cushion is stressful in a different way.
Twelve years is a long time to carry that kind of stress. Brave move pulling the trigger on it. Curious how you're handling the financial side of it all, but honestly if your face stopped breaking out and you're drinking less, that's already a win.
