Realized I became my dad and I'm actually proud of that

Spent years after college trying to be nothing like my old man. Thought he was boring, too practical, always choosing responsible stuff over fun. Fast forward 10 years, I'm married with 3 kids and I'm making the exact same choices he did. Stable job over the cool startup. Weekend soccer games instead of golf trips with buddies. And weirdly I get it now. I get why he was the way he was. Last month I told him this and we actually had a real conversation about it. Funny how becoming a dad makes you see your parents differently.

That's the real growth right there. Being boring and practical isn't boring when you're doing it for your kids. Trust me, my twins would rather have me showing up consistently than trying to be cool.

Man, I get this. I spent years thinking my dad was uncool too. Turns out being responsible and making good choices is actually the most dad thing ever, and that's worth something.
