Solo travel guy turned family adventure dad
Used to backpack through Asia and South America every year. My identity was completely wrapped up in being that guy who had no ties and could go anywhere. Had my kids young and honestly resented it for a while. But last summer we took the kids camping and something shifted. We're planning a road trip next year and I'm genuinely excited about it. Still miss the solo stuff sometimes but family adventures hit different when you're sharing it with your kids instead of just grabbing drinks with randoms in hostels.
Man, that identity shift hits different when you're holding your kid for the first time. I'm still new to this whole dad thing with my daughter, but I've already realized adventures just look different now. You'll find your way back to that adventurous side, just in a different form.
