The day I realized I'd become my dad
So I was grilling last Saturday and my son came running over. Instead of thinking 'ugh kids are annoying' like old me would have, I got this weird proud feeling and spent the next two hours teaching him about fire safety and meat temps. Then I caught myself explaining the structural integrity of our deck railing to a 6 year old. Exact same thing my dad did with me. It hit me hard. I'm officially my father now and honestly it doesn't suck.
This is the best kind of full circle moment. When you go from thinking your dad was weird for enjoying grilling to actually getting it. My dad is loving watching me have these realizations now.
Did you at least enjoy him interrupting the grilling process or were you already too far gone into your dad era?
