The financial reality hit different
When it was just me I'd spend two hundred bucks on a night out without thinking twice. Now I'm comparing prices on bulk diapers and calculating if we can afford the school field trip. What I gained is knowing every penny goes to actual human beings who depend on me. What I miss is not doing mental math in the grocery store every single time.
This is what nobody warns you about. It's not even the big stuff, it's the cumulative weight of all the small purchases. Formula, diapers, activities, sports, school stuff, it just adds up fast. But yeah comparing restaurant bills to grocery totals is its own kind of reality check.
