The friends who stuck around vs the ones who didn't

Interesting observation I'm making at 3 years in. The guys who have kids? Still my friends. The single guys? Total ghost situation. Which is weird because I'm the one who changed but they act like I did something to them. I'm still the same person just with less free time and more dad jokes. It stings a little if I'm being honest but I've also made new friends with other parents so maybe it balances out. Still growing.

You ARE the one who changed but that doesn't mean the friendship should die. The single guys could have adapted. Some people just can't handle when their friends level up into family life.

This sucks but I think it's real for most people. The friends who didn't stick around were probably never going to be around for this chapter anyway. Better to find out now than later.

It goes both ways sometimes. I kept reaching out to my single buddies and eventually realized I was always the one planning stuff. At some point you accept they're in a different season and move on.

The ghosting thing is weird but also kind of makes sense. You changed your availability and they probably felt rejected even though that's not what happened. Hard situation all around.

This is the part nobody warns you about. Your single friends literally cannot relate to your life anymore. They're still thinking about weekend plans and you're worried about pediatrician appointments. The dynamic just breaks.

Three years in is a good observation point. By then you've figured out who actually values the friendship vs who was just convenient when you had tons of free time. The guys with kids get it because they're in it too.
