The guy I was vs the dad I became
Before kids I was all about me. Spent money on stupid stuff, went out whenever, had a clean truck. Now I'm the guy clipping coupons and driving a minivan with Goldfish crumbs in the cup holders. I miss the spontaneity and my old friends but what I've gained is being someone my kids actually look up to. I'm not that selfish guy anymore and honestly that feels better than any night out ever did. Changed my whole perspective on what matters.
That money spending part is real. Used to blow cash on whatever. Now I'm calculating whether we really need that thing or if we can get another year out of what we've got. Being a dad is the best financial advisor I never hired.
