The thing I miss most about being single

I miss just being selfish with my time. Like on a Saturday I could decide at 8am to go to a movie, grab lunch, spend 6 hours at a coffee shop reading without planning it out. Now everything requires logistics. Even going to the grocery store is an event. My wife and I haven't had a real conversation in like a week just because by the time kids are down we're zombies. The gain is obviously huge though. My kid told me yesterday that I'm his favorite person and that erased a lot of the nostalgia for the old days. But yeah, spontaneity is dead.

I hear you, but once you get the kids out doing stuff they love, you find new ways to enjoy your time. We're always planning camping trips or hiking now instead of coffee shops. Different but still pretty good.

I get that, man. With co-parenting I only get the kids part time, so I do get some of that freedom back on my off weekends. But honestly I found I don't want to do those solo things as much anymore. Different chapter of life.
