Two years sober and I barely recognize myself
I'm not gonna get into all the details but I was a mess. Drinking every night, missed kids' games, my wife almost left me, the whole thing. Went to my first AA meeting kicking and screaming. But somewhere around month 6 something just clicked. I started seeing my kids look at me different. My oldest actually wanted to hang out with me again. My wife stopped flinching when I came home. Now I coach my son's baseball team, I remember conversations from the day before, and I actually WANT to be present. The hardest part was admitting I couldn't fix it myself but man, the other side is so worth it. If you're reading this and you're where I was, it gets better.
Two years is incredible. I can't even imagine what that takes but your kids definitely notice the difference. You're killing it.
