Used to be the guy who went out 4 nights a week, now I'm home by 8pm
Before kids I was basically living at bars and concerts. Had a pretty solid friend group and we'd always have plans. Now I'm 39 with two kids under 5 and honestly I haven't been out past 10pm in like 2 years. Sometimes I miss the freedom and the conversations that didn't revolve around nap schedules. But last week one of my old buddies came over and after 20 minutes of standing around I realized we don't have that much in common anymore. I guess that's just growing up but man, getting old is weird.
Single dad here and I'm guilty of wanting to still go out some nights. But yeah those 8pm nights home are becoming the new normal and weirdly I don't hate it. Trade-offs, man.
