Went from broke to actually having savings
Was living paycheck to paycheck for years, always stressed about money. Started tracking every dollar and it was eye opening how much I wasted. Cut a lot of stuff, sold things I didn't need, picked up side gigs on weekends. After 18 months I finally have an emergency fund. The stress is gone. Miss some of the carefree spending but sleep better at night knowing we're secure now.
Seriously congrats on this. That paycheck to paycheck existence is exhausting. Actually having a cushion changes everything about how you feel as a parent. You feel like you can breathe again you know?
Financial stress is real stress and kids pick up on it. Good for you for turning it around. Was the tracking tedious or did it actually become helpful over time?
