Went from couch potato to running 5Ks - here's what actually changed
Two years ago I couldn't run a quarter mile without feeling like I was dying. Got tired of feeling like garbage all the time and my doctor basically said I needed to make changes or things were gonna get worse. Started with just walking, then added some jogging. Now I do 2-3 races a year. The physical transformation is obvious but what surprised me more was the mental shift. I feel capable now. I stand differently. I make eye contact. I'm not constantly down on myself. Sounds dramatic but honestly feeling healthy in my body changed how I see myself as a person. My kids see me as active instead of the guy who sits on the couch all weekend.
That's awesome dude. I've been thinking about doing something similar since the living room fort construction isn't exactly cardio, but hearing your story makes it feel actually doable.
