Went from never exercising to running my first 5K at 42
A year ago I couldn't walk up stairs without getting winded. Got diagnosed with prediabetes and something clicked. Started slow, just walking then jogging a little bit. Found a local running group that met on Tuesday nights and stuck with it. Ran a 5K two weeks ago and didn't die. I'm still overweight but I feel completely different. My knees don't hurt, I sleep better, my stress is way down. I don't recognize myself in the mirror sometimes. The weird part is missing my old couch days, but like in a good way where I'm glad I left that version of myself behind.
That's huge man, seriously. I'm co-parenting two kids here in Atlanta and I know how hard it is to make that first change stick. Your kids are gonna see what you did and learn that health matters. Congrats on the 5K.
