Went from single party guy to suburban dad and I'm shocked I love it
Before the kids came I was living it up, sleeping till noon on weekends, going out whenever. Now I'm up at 6am doing breakfast and school drop offs and honestly I wouldn't trade it. My friends still text me to go out and I'm like nah I'm gonna watch my daughter's soccer game. Weird thing is I don't feel like I'm missing out anymore. The identity shift hit me hard but I actually became someone better.
This hits different when you're doing the co-parenting shuffle like I am, but I get it completely. Those early mornings when you've got the kids are sacred. The suburban dad life grew on me faster than I expected too.
