What I miss about being single and what I don't miss at all

My wife always jokes that I act like I'm mourning my old life. Truth is I don't miss it. Yeah I miss sleeping past 6am and having money that's actually mine and not having to explain my plans to anyone. But dude, those things are nothing compared to what I gained. I miss the freedom but I don't miss the emptiness. Don't miss staying out til 2am doing nothing productive. Don't miss waking up thinking only about myself. Now I wake up and there's actual meaning. My kid needs me. My wife believes in me. I'm building something instead of just existing. Sometimes I think about the old me and feel sorry for him.
