What I miss about the before times

Don't get me wrong, being a dad is incredible. But man, I do miss spontaneity. Used to just say 'let's go to Vegas this weekend' or pick up and travel somewhere random. Now everything is planned three months in advance and involves finding a babysitter, packing 47 different things, and dealing with meltdowns in public. I miss being able to be selfish with my time. I miss sleeping past 6am. I miss peace and quiet. But then my 4 year old calls me 'the best dad ever' and I remember why I'm here doing this.
