Who I was before fatherhood vs who I am now

Before kids I was selfish. Like really selfish. I did what I wanted, spent money on stupid stuff, stayed out late, didn't think about anyone but myself. Had my first kid and something just clicked. Suddenly I cared about someone more than myself. I'm not perfect at it but I'm trying. I miss some of the freedom I had, the ability to just be irresponsible. But what I've gained is so much bigger. I have purpose now. I have someone who thinks I'm a hero. That's worth more than any of the stuff I used to do.
