Who knew becoming a dad meant becoming a taxi driver
I used to actually know people by their names instead of their kids' names. Now I'm that guy at soccer practice saying things like "yeah I'm Tommy's dad." Lost a lot of friendships that didn't involve kids or discussing daycare costs. But gained a whole community of dads who get it. We don't really hang out without our kids anymore. That's just the deal now. Some days I miss being the guy who could leave whenever he wanted. Most days though I look at my kids and I'm like yeah this is worth being stuck in carpool for the next 15 years.
This hits different, man. Used to be Nolan but now I'm just 'the dad with the two kids' at every event. The soccer sidelines have a way of doing that to you real quick.
