Am I the only one who dreads handoff days?
Like, I love seeing my kids but the actual handoff is always awkward/tense. We usually do it at a parking lot near the school. Sometimes my ex is mad about something. Sometimes the kids are tired and cranky. Sometimes there's tension I can't even identify.
I've started suggesting neutral spots or having my new gf do pickups sometimes just to break up the weird energy. But then I feel like I'm avoiding my own problem.
Does anyone actually... enjoy handoff days? Or is it just universally awkward?
We switched to me picking up right after school instead of her dropping them off and it helped SO much. Less time for tension to build
The kids being tired at handoff is the worst because they're already emotionally tired from the transition and then you have to navigate that plus goodbye stuff
