Child support calculation seems wrong

Got my child support order and the number feels way too high. My income went down since the divorce was finalized and I tried to get it modified but it's a whole process. Lawyer is expensive. Can anyone explain how they actually calculate this stuff or should I just bite the bullet and pay the lawyer?

Income went down is a legitimate reason to ask for a modification. Don't just accept it if your situation actually changed. Get it reviewed.

What happened to your income? Job loss or something? Either way you've got grounds to go back to the court if the number doesn't match reality.

You can file for modification if your income dropped. Document that change and get a lawyer involved. Don't try to do this alone.
