Child support is killing me financially and I feel like it's not even going to the kids

I'm paying $2400 a month and my ex clearly isn't struggling but somehow I'm the one living in a smaller apartment while she lives in a nice house. I've asked to adjust the arrangement but her lawyer just shoots it down. My kids have everything they need so I don't begrudge supporting them, but when you know the money is being spent on her lifestyle it's hard. Anyone been through a modification that actually worked?

That's a rough amount every month. If you genuinely believe it's not going to the kids, you might need to talk to a lawyer about modification or at least getting clarity on how it's being spent.

I feel you on this one. The hardest part of co-parenting for me has been making sure the support actually benefits the kids. You might want to document where the money's going and talk to a family law attorney about your options.

That's a tough spot, man. Have you considered going back to court to request a modification? If her financial situation has genuinely changed, a judge might be able to adjust things based on current circumstances.

That's frustrating and I get why you're feeling the sting. Just make sure you're still showing up strong for your kids in whatever situation you're in - they notice who's present, not just who's paying.
