Communication getting worse not better

Split up about 18 months ago and things were actually going okay for a while. Lately every text with the ex turns into an argument even about stupid stuff. Yesterday I asked about the kids' soccer schedule and somehow it became about money I supposedly owe. Just want to focus on the kids but it feels like she's looking for fights. Do other guys deal with this or is it just me?

Sorry you're dealing with that, 18 months in can actually be a weird inflection point. Sometimes you just need to step back and remember you're on the same team for the kids even if you're not together anymore.

Man that's tough, the co-parenting grind gets harder sometimes even when you're both trying. Have you thought about setting some boundaries on text convos, maybe keeping it to logistics only for a bit?

I get it, after 18 months the honeymoon phase of civility wears off. Takes real effort to keep those convos just about the kids but it's worth it in the long run.
