Communication style differences are driving me nuts

My ex is like... she wants to discuss EVERYTHING via family meetings now. Kid needs new shoes? Family meeting. Summer camp options? Family meeting. I just want to text 'hey I'm buying him Nikes, sizes 6' and be done. But she's always like 'we should discuss this as a co-parenting team.' And yeah I get it, unified front and all that, but sometimes I feel infantilized? Like I should be able to make decisions about the kid during my time without checking in. How do other people navigate this without being difficult about it?

We have a similar situation and I literally told my ex we need to filter these things through a reasonableness test. A family meeting about every little thing is exhausting for everyone including the kid.

Family meetings for shoe shopping is absolutely unhinged. Pick your battles but that one might be worth pushing back on. Some decisions can just be parent decisions.

Maybe suggest a weekly check-in meeting instead of constant ones? Consolidate the topics so you're not constantly stopping what you're doing.

I get wanting to communicate but there has to be a middle ground. Not everything needs to be a formal discussion. That's going to burn out both of you.
