Custody agreement question - summer schedules

So my ex and I are trying to figure out the summer schedule. My custody is every other week. She wants to do 6 weeks straight with the kids in July/August which would throw off our schedule. I want to stick with our agreement but don't want to be that guy. What have other people done? How do you stay flexible without getting walked over?
