Custody schedule changing - how do I explain this to my kids?

Me and their mom worked out a new arrangement. Instead of every other weekend, I'll have them Wed nights and every other full weekend. They're 6 and 9 so old enough to understand. Should I sit them down together with their mom or talk to them one on one? I don't want them to feel like anything's their fault. This is amicable with their mom so that part is good at least.

Keep it simple and positive. Kids respond better when they hear that both parents wanted this and it means more time together. Focus on what they gain, not what changed.

The Wednesday night thing is solid because you get actual weekdays with them, not just weekends. Makes parenting feel more normal instead of just visit mode.

That's actually a great arrangement. Going from every other weekend to Wednesday nights plus weekends is going to give you way more time with them. How are they handling the news?
