Custody schedule confusion with new job

Got a new job that has me working some weekends now and I'm supposed to have the kids every other weekend. Already told their mom about the conflict but she's being weird about adjusting the schedule. We have a mediator set up but haven't used them yet. Should I push for that now or try to work it out ourselves first? Don't want things to get messy.

Congrats on the new job but yeah you gotta communicate this officially. Would it be possible to trade weekends with some weekday time instead?

You need to get this sorted ASAP. Document your new schedule and propose changes in writing. Don't just wing it and hope it works out. That's how custody violations happen accidentally.

This is tough because you want to support the new job but also keep your custody time. Definitely talk to your ex about modifying the schedule before this becomes a problem. Most custody agreements can be adjusted if both parents agree.
