Custody schedule is killing me financially

Got 50/50 custody but I'm paying child support on top of it because my ex made less during the divorce. Now I'm maintaining two households, paying support, and picking up extra shifts just to break even. I love my kids and want them comfortable at my place too but the math doesn't work. Lawyer says unless her income changes significantly I'm stuck. Anyone been in this situation?

The system is broken on this stuff. You're carrying her financially AND splitting time? That's not fair. Document everything and look into getting it adjusted.

That's a rough setup man. 50/50 custody should mean 50/50 financial responsibility too. Have you talked to a family law attorney about modifying the support order? Situations change.

This is the kind of thing that can eat you alive if you let it. The math doesn't make sense and you know it. Might be worth revisiting that agreement if your situation is different now.
