Custody swap days are killing my schedule

So my ex insists on Wednesdays and Saturdays for pickups, which sounds fine in theory. But my new job has mandatory Wednesday evening meetings, and my daughter's soccer is Saturday mornings. I've asked if we can shift to Tuesday/Thursday but she keeps saying no without real explanation. We're in Colorado Springs if that matters legally. Anyone else dealing with inflexible exes on this? How do you handle it?

This needs to be a formal conversation, not just asking. Your job obligations and her sports commitments are legitimate scheduling needs - your ex needs to understand that Wednesdays and Saturdays specifically don't work anymore. Wednesday evenings especially is not flexible for a job requirement.

If she won't budge, this might need a lawyer to adjust the custody order. I know that sounds nuclear but your job is how you support your daughter - your ex can't just ignore that. Most judges will modify scheduling for genuine work conflicts.

Have you offered alternative days that work better? Like Tuesdays/Sundays or whatever your actual schedule allows? Sometimes if you come with a solution instead of just the problem, exes are more reasonable.

Document everything for a minute. How often is your job conflicting vs how often is her soccer conflicting? Go to your ex with actual numbers, not feelings. 'I can't make 50% of my mandatory work meetings' hits different than 'Wednesday doesn't work.'
