Dealing with conflicting schedules for kids' activities

My ex and I have been going back and forth about who handles pickups for our son's soccer. I have him every other weekend but soccer is on Saturday mornings which falls on her weeks. We've had a couple blow ups about this already. Trying to keep it civil for our son but man it's getting frustrating. I offered to pay for weekend soccer but she wants him in the weekday program. Anyone else dealing with something similar? How do you work it out?

Soccer schedules are no joke when you're juggling custody shifts. Maybe frame it as what's best for your son being at the games consistently rather than who should handle it.

That's a tough one with the Saturday soccer falling on your off-weekends. Have you guys looked at splitting the season or alternating who does the regular pickups? Might be worth proposing a rotation.

You need to get this in writing if it's not already. Who's supposed to handle pickups for soccer? If your ex agreed to something, she needs to do it. If it's supposed to alternate, lock it down so there's no confusion every week.

Pro tip: use a scheduling app that you both can see. Takes the guesswork out of who's supposed to do what. No more arguments if it's right there in the app.

This back and forth stuff kills me. Just had the same fight with my ex about who picks up from practice. My solution was I just always do it and she reimburses me half. Easier than fighting about it every single week.
