Does anyone else do parallel parenting instead of co-parenting?

My ex and I have too much history to actually "cooperate" on parenting decisions so we basically just run our own households independently. Different rules, different routines, different discipline styles - the kids switch between two totally different setups. It works for US but I'm always second-guessing whether it's confusing for them. Anyone else doing this successfully?
