Does anyone else struggle with their ex's new partner?

So my ex has been dating this guy for 6 months and now he's around my kids every time they're over there. I don't have anything against him specifically but it feels weird having some random guy playing dad with my kids. My 8yo is already calling him by his first name and seems comfortable with him which part of me is happy about but also kind of bothers me? Is this something I should be concerned about or am I just being territorial?

It's rough when your kids have another person in their life you didn't pick. The key is making sure YOUR time with them is solid and predictable, that's what they need most from you.

That's a tough spot. I get the concern, but six months in is when things start getting real. Best thing you can do is stay cool and keep communication open with your ex about what you need to feel comfortable.

I totally get the discomfort but six months in doesn't mean he's here to replace you. Your kids know who their dad is. The main red flags are if he's undermining you or overstepping with discipline.

How are your kids feeling about him? That matters more than how you feel honestly. If they're comfortable and he's treating them well, it might just take time to adjust.
