Ex is being difficult about school pickup - need advice

Our custody agreement says either parent can pick up from school but my ex has been saying she's the primary parent so she should handle all pickups. Then when I try to do it she gets annoyed. I get that she was the one managing school stuff before the split but I want to stay involved. How do I handle this without it becoming a bigger issue? Don't want the kids caught in the middle of this stuff.

Keep copies of that agreement handy and stick to it. Co-parenting gets easier when both sides respect the paperwork. If she keeps pushing back you might need to have a conversation about what the agreement actually says.

I've been in similar situations and documentation is your best friend here. Keep records of when you pick up, texts about it, everything. If she keeps pushing back, might be worth a quick conversation with your lawyer just to have it in writing.

That's frustrating man, but the custody agreement is pretty clear from what you're saying. Don't let her redefine what primary parent means - you've got the legal right to pick up and that matters for your time with the kids.

Dealing with this right now too and it's exhausting. The agreement is clear but every little thing becomes a battle. Honestly sometimes it's just easier to avoid the confrontation. But you're right that you shouldn't have to keep asking.

That's frustrating. If the custody agreement clearly says either parent can pick up, then she really doesn't have a leg to stand on. Document everything just in case this becomes a bigger issue. Have you tried texting her about it so you have a record?
