Ex is talking badly about me in front of the kids

My 7yo mentioned that mom said I'm 'irresponsible' because I was 10 minutes late picking him up last week. I've got him 50% of the time and I'm really involved but one delay and now he's hearing this stuff. How do I handle this without making things worse? I want to be the bigger person but I'm frustrated.

I'd document these conversations if you can. Not trying to be paranoid but if it becomes a pattern you might need it. For now maybe a calm conversation about what the kids are hearing.

That's rough man. Ten minutes is not irresponsible, that's traffic. Have you tried talking to her directly about keeping the kids out of adult stuff? Co-parenting is hard but that crosses a line.

Your 7yo shouldn't be getting caught in the middle of that. That's on her, not you. You're still the same dad he's always had.
