Ex wants to change custody schedule last minute, again

She texted me at 2pm today saying she needs to swap weekends because of something coming up. This is like the third time this month. I had plans with my kids and now I have to scramble. I'm not trying to be difficult but I need some stability too. Do I have any ground to push back on this or should I just go with it?

That's frustrating man. How many times has she done this? Once or twice might be bad luck but if it's a pattern you might need to document it. Consistency matters with custody stuff.

Last minute swaps are the worst because it messes with your plans AND your kids' expectations. She needs to respect the schedule. Did you already have plans with the kids that day?

This is tough. I'd suggest a firm but civil response like 'weekends are set per our agreement, let me know if this is a pattern and we can discuss it.' Don't get emotional in the text even if you're pissed.
