Ex won't follow the custody schedule and I'm losing it

So the court order says I get the kids Thursday to Sunday every other week. Sounds good right? Except my ex randomly decides to keep them an extra day or switches weekends without asking and I'm supposed to just be cool about it. Last month she did it FOUR times. I asked her to stick to the schedule and she said I'm being controlling. But like, I plan stuff around these days, I have work on Wednesdays I need to arrange childcare for. When I push back even a little she threatens that I'm making it hard on the kids. Anyone dealt with this? Do I need to get a lawyer involved or is that overkill?

This happened to us for a bit and it was infuriating. My ex would 'forget' about pickups or keep them late. Started recording everything in a shared calendar app with timestamps. Made it harder for her to claim confusion. Also helped when we had to go back to court.

Sorry you're dealing with this. The inconsistency is probably messing with your kids too, not just your schedule. Have you tried talking to her about what's actually making her dodge the schedule? Sometimes there's something fixable underneath the chaos.

Man, that's rough. The court order is just paper if she doesn't respect it. Have you documented every missed pickup/drop off? You might need to go back to your lawyer and file for contempt. I know it's exhausting but you gotta protect your time with the kids.
