Ex won't stick to agreed custody schedule

We have it in writing that I get Tuesday and Thursday nights plus every other weekend. She's been texting me at the last minute saying she needs the kids those days because of work stuff, and I keep saying yes because I don't want to be difficult. But now I'm barely seeing them and feeling like I'm getting walked all over. Do I need to lawyer up over this or try talking to her first?

Yeah, stick to the agreement. If she needs flexibility, that's a conversation for another time, not a text 20 minutes before pickup. Your time with your kids is just as important as hers.

Man, that's frustrating. I'd be documenting those last minute texts just in case, but also try to have a real conversation with her about it when you're both calm. Sometimes it helps to remind them you've got plans too, whether that's work or just being present for your kids.
