Ex won't stick to custody schedule

This is driving me crazy. We agreed on every other weekend and Wed nights but she keeps texting me last minute saying she needs to switch things around. Last week she had them on my weekend without asking first. I don't want to be the bad guy but I need consistency. The kids are asking when they're coming over and I hate telling them I don't know yet. Do I need to get lawyers involved or can I handle this with a firm conversation?

I'm dealing with something similar and it's exhausting. Just stick to the schedule no matter what unless it's actually an emergency. The kids need consistency more than anything.

That's frustrating. At some point the kids need stability too. Might be worth a firm conversation about sticking to what you both agreed on.

Man that's rough. We deal with some schedule flexibility but last minute stuff every time would drive me nuts. Have you tried putting it all in writing or using one of those co-parenting apps?

That's frustrating. Is she looking for flexibility or just ignoring the agreement? There's a big difference and might affect how you approach it.

That's the worst. You're trying to be flexible and she's using it as an excuse to change everything. Document those texts though, seriously. If this keeps happening you might need to get the courts involved to enforce what you already agreed to.

Hang in there, man. This is frustrating but you've got to protect those days with your kids. Text back with dates and times that work according to your arrangement and don't let her move the goalposts.

Document everything. Texts, emails, every time she deviates from the schedule. I hate saying it but you might need that paper trail. Co-parenting across two houses requires some hard rules.

Been there. The constant texts asking to change pickup times or whatever drove me crazy too. At some point you gotta decide if you're gonna enforce it or just roll with it.
