Ex won't stick to custody schedule and it's affecting my relationship with my kids

We have 50/50 custody on paper but my ex keeps moving my days around last minute or canceling because she has something better to do. The kids never know if they're coming to me or not and it's messing with them. I've asked her nicely multiple times but she says I'm being rigid and uncooperative. I don't want to take her back to court but I also need consistency. Anyone else dealing with this?

That's a frustrating situation to be in. Have you thought about using a co-parenting app to keep everything documented? It takes some of the back and forth out of it and protects both of you.

Man, that's rough. I deal with similar stuff here in Phoenix and it really does mess with the kids' sense of stability. Have you tried documenting these changes and having a conversation about how it's affecting them? Sometimes putting it in terms of the kids' needs rather than the schedule itself helps.

This is tough because the kids pick up on the inconsistency even if they don't say it directly. In my experience, consistency matters way more than perfection, so maybe a conversation about what's actually workable for both of you would help more than the current setup.
