Ex won't stick to custody schedule, getting frustrated

Been divorced for 2 years now and we had a pretty straightforward agreement, I get every other weekend plus Wednesday nights. Lately she keeps texting me last minute asking if I can swap weekends or she's picking up the kids late or bringing them back early. I want to be flexible but it's making it impossible to plan anything. Do I need to just accept this or should I push back harder on the actual court order? It's making things tense again when they were actually getting better.

I feel this. Consistency is everything for the kids though. Document it all and maybe get a family mediator involved before it escalates further. Not trying to be a downer but these things get messier the longer they go unaddressed.

This stuff is so frustrating because it affects your time with your kids too, not just your plans. Have you tried scheduling a conversation with her about what's making the schedule hard for her to stick to? Sometimes there's an underlying issue that if you address it, the consistency improves.

Man, that's rough. Has your ex given any reason for the schedule changes or is it just happening without notice? I had a buddy go through something similar and he ended up documenting everything in writing with a custody app just to have the paper trail. Might be worth a conversation with your custody agreement person if it keeps happening.

Take my word for it, you gotta stay consistent on your end no matter what. Those Wednesday nights and weekends are your time to be present and build those memories. That's what counts.

Man, I feel you on this. Document those texts and keep records of when she changes plans - it protects you and shows a pattern if you ever need it for legal reasons. Hang in there.

This is rough. Maybe try having a calm conversation about how the changes are affecting your relationship with your kid? Sometimes people don't realize how much it matters until you spell it out.
