Ex won't stick to custody schedule - keeps switching weekends last minute

This is driving me crazy. Every other weekend she's supposed to have the kids Friday to Sunday. But then like Thursday she'll text saying she has to switch to the next weekend or can't take them at all. I get that things come up but this constant changing makes it impossible to plan anything or set routines with the kids. Do I need a lawyer to enforce this or is there something else I should try first?

Yeah that's frustrating. With three kids I know how important those weekends are for planning. Maybe suggest she loses that makeup weekend if she bails too close to Friday? Gotta protect your time with them.

Man, that's rough. I deal with schedule changes all the time with my ex and it messes with the kids' routine. Have you tried putting it in writing what happens if she cancels last minute, like maybe she loses that weekend? Gotta set boundaries.
