Ex won't stick to custody schedule, what are my options?

My ex has been pushing back on the agreed schedule for about 3 months now. Every other weekend was the deal but now she's saying she needs flexibility and keeps asking me to swap last minute. I try to be accommodating but I'm missing time with my kids and she's using it as leverage when I ask about anything else. My lawyer said I could file for contempt but that seems nuclear. Anyone else dealing with this? How do you handle it without making things worse?

I'd document everything and then have a direct conversation about what's changed. Sometimes it helps to ask why instead of assuming the worst. But yeah, if she won't work with you, you might need legal help to enforce it.

Man, that's tough. Three months of pushing back would drive me crazy too. Have you tried putting it in writing when you agree to changes? Even texts help if you end up needing documentation later.

With four kids, I learned real quick that consistency matters more than flexibility for the kids' sake. If the original schedule was working, she needs a solid reason to change it. Might be time to get the custody agreement officially looked at.

I feel you on this one. With my soccer schedule, flexibility sounds good in theory but it messes with my kids' routine big time. Document everything and maybe suggest a mediator if she keeps moving the goalposts.

This is a tough spot. Co-parenting is hard when one person isn't holding up their end. You might want to look into mediation before going full legal route - sometimes having a neutral third party makes a difference.

Three months is a long time to deal with that frustration. Have you talked to a family lawyer about what your actual options are? Documentation matters here - keep records of every time she deviates from the schedule.
