Ex won't stick to pickup schedule and it's messing with my head

Anyone else dealing with this? My ex is constantly texting last minute saying she can't do pickups on my days. I get it, stuff happens, but it's become a pattern. I work a job where I can't just leave whenever and my new partner is getting frustrated because we never have solid plans. I've asked her nicely multiple times to give me at least 24 hours notice but nothing changes. Should I be documenting all of this or am I being petty? My lawyer said to keep records but I don't want to be that guy. Just want reliability for my kids' sake.

That's infuriating and I feel for you. Last minute cancellations mess up everything - the kids get disappointed, your plans get ruined, it's stressful all around. Have you talked to your lawyer about amending the agreement to include penalties for this kind of thing?

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It's disrespectful to you and unsettling for the kids. You might want to set a firm deadline in writing for all pickup requests to be made at least 48 hours in advance. Make it official so you have something to fall back on.

I feel this one. The constant last-minute changes mess with your whole week. You might want to reference that agreement when she texts - keep it business and stick to what you signed.

This drives me crazy too. My ex did this constantly for about six months until I started documenting everything and having a serious conversation about how it was affecting our kids. Sometimes they don't realize how much it impacts the other parent's mental health and the kids' stability.
